What is Coultershaw?
The Coultershaw Heritage Site is operated and maintained by volunteers from the Coultershaw Trust. The Coultershaw Trust was formed in 2002 by the Petworth Society and the Sussex Industrial Archaeology Society. The Trust is a Registered Charity (Number 1096077) with 7 trustees, and one trustee acting as Treasurer. (Coultershaw Trust, Station Road, Petworth, West Sussex GU28 0JE.) The Annual Accounts are subject to examination by an Independent Examiner. There are no paid staff.
The Charity’s objectives are ‘to advance the education of the public by affording them access to the Beam Pump at Coultershaw, its surrounding environment as would have existed during its working life, and other items of historic interest’
Hands-on is very good; I loved the hand pumps and tried them all
